Being a photographer has changed the way I see the world, and renewed my appreciation for the many things we take for granted every day. I’m constantly scanning my surroundings and mentally framing the scene before me. Landscape photography has forced me to slow down and explore a location, to look for patterns in nature and be amazed by its detail and incredible design. I study rusty objects, old structures, delicate flowers to see and feel their story, in their place in our environment.
There is something spiritual about watching the sun rise or set over the land. The changing light, the drama in the sky and the weather provide endless opportunities for capturing magical moments.
Self -taught through experimenting, failing, trying harder, reading and feeling, I have learned to see what is in front of me. I value my photography choosing to share a unique view of the world without using descriptive words. I print, custom mat and frame all my own images as well as provide custom work for others using archival inks and materials. I try to do most of my work in camera, then tweak during post editing.
