Having participated in the Images Tour since the early 2000’s, I have thoroughly enjoyed my involvement in the show with the artists I have worked with, and the wonderful guests who have enjoyed my art. Art has been a part of my life since I was 8 years old with my mother, who was taught by members of the Group of Seven, instilled in me an appreciation of art and the creation of a painting. Later in life, painting became a journey of self-discovery. Color became a language, sometimes happy or sad, bold and confused. My later paintings involve the area of Oro-Medonte where I grew up. I find inspiration in the land and particularly water. Our environment is fragile and delicate and must be treated with the respect and dignity it richly deserves. My hope is that my paintings reflect this concern. My contemporary paintings are inspired by the local area and Georgian Bay, Manitoulin Island and The Land Between. With that in mind my metaphor message is “Enjoy the journey and don’t worry about the destination.” This is represented in my paintings of cottages, homes and farms. Some scenes have a down east look and are based on the southern edge of the Canadian Shield and The Land Between. I find something truly magical in our area. Color, shapes, and the dance of light serve to delight me with roads, farms, fields, small towns, and of course water. As with any sunset, I believe my art is color to behold, magical and often whimsical.
