After 19 years on the tour Derek will be taking the 2024 year off. “I have wanted to take some time off and just explore new things, experiment without any deadlines, and just see what art comes out of me. I will return to the show in 2025, recharged and refocused. As part of the “refocusing” the majority of the reproductions at the gallery this year will be discounted to clear out the old and make room for the new vision on my return in 2025. I look forward to visiting this everyone this year and reconnecting again in 2025.” - Derek C. Wicks. Through the years my work has been selected to endorse several conservation efforts such as the Canadian Conservation Fund, Timber Wolf Alliance, Ducks Unlimited and the Children's Wish Foundation. I am also an avid supporter of conservation groups and efforts. In both 2007 and 2011 I was named the National Artist Of the Year by Ducks Unlimited and The 2012 Artist Of the Year by Oro-Medonte Chamber of Commerce. My work has also found its way to Royal Canadian Mint Coins, designs including the 70th anniversary coin for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip, 2016 Olympic Lonnie and Platinum Blossom Coin that sold for a record 1.2 million.
