Bio

Born In Winnipeg, Canada on Jan 7, 1939, Dad came to his love for painting by age 13 and dedicated his life to depicting the beauty of landscapes across the country in Pastels and Oil.  He paddled the rivers and lakes of Ontario with a special focus and love of Georgian Bay, not far from his log home studio and gallery in Marchmont Ontario.  He also travelled to the UK, USA’s west coast, Mexico and Costa Rica in search of subject matter for his work.

He participated in major exhibitions including the Pacific Rim Wildlife Exhibition in 1996, and the Buckhorn Wildlife Festival has been a favourite annual event for Dave's collectors since 1986. Beckett's paintings are in many private and corporate collections including those of the Government of Canada, the Province of Ontario and major financial institutions at home, in Europe, the U.K., Japan, and South Africa.

He was an elected member of The Pastel Society of Canada (PSC) and was recently awarded the title of Premiere Pastellist of Canada (PPC).  He was a life member of the Pastel Society of America (PSA), an international organization of distinguished pastellists. Dave was also a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.

After a brave fight with cancer, Dad passed away on April 18, 2024.  He is greatly missed by his family, friends and fellow artists.  We are thankful for all the beauty he left us and will endeavour to celebrate his legacy.
