Bio

Artist Alain Norman Amar extrapolates and transforms physical features and environmental qualities of nature into textured and vibrant representations of the ephemerality of life.

The nearly meditative nature of his art engages with the transitory and transcendent aspects of human experience and perception.

His art, realised by applying oil paint and beeswax onto wood panels, conveys the reflective quality of nature, situating the viewer within a simultaneously recognizable and allusive outdoor space.

Rather than from an external source, the luminosity in each piece comes from within, and is conveyed by layering dark and contrasting light colour variations.

Through his art, natural phenomena become abstracted, yet approachable, in their symmetries and singularities. Gestural brush strokes provoke directional movement and evoke the ever-moving character of natural forces. The addition and subtraction of colours, patterns, and materials, create multi-sensorial stimulations that invoke auditory and visual, fragrant and tactile memories. His work exists as a non-projective lens aiming to inspire the personal evaluation of human emotions relative to the physical world.

Alain Amar’s belief that nature softens the human perspective and elevates the human condition is the guiding principle behind this new collection, titled “Imagination is Everything”.
