Bio

My newest paintings reflect the joyful experience of immersion in water. They arise from my love of paddling and swimming through the landscapes of northern Simcoe and Muskoka. I am never happier than when I am immersed in a local river or lake. With this new work I’ve set myself the challenge of sharing that experience in paint.

Using oil with charcoal on wood, these paintings depict an encounter that moves between the internal and external, the spirit and physical sensation. While the paintings are abstract, they feel more truthful to the experience than a literal representation of place.

Trained as a graphic designer and creative director, I turned to painting to recharge my creative batteries. It quickly became an obsession. Mostly self-taught, I challenge and re-invigorate my work by studying with established artists such as Iris Häussler, Marianne Mitchell, and Robert Szot. My art can be found in private collections in Canada and the US. I exhibit my work regularly in galleries and fine art fairs. I live and work in the woods outside Washago, Ontario.
